Visible from afar, it crowns a small hill between Mareit/Mareta and Ridnaun/Ridanna: the Miner's Church of St. Magdalene – a special place for anyone interested in art, history and tranquil spots with an expansive view. The outlook over the Stubai Alps is impressive – as is the church’s history.

As early as 1273 a house of worship is mentioned on this site. After a fire it was rebuilt with help from the community. From 1390 regular Mass was held there. When silver mining on the nearby Schneeberg/Monteneve reached its heyday in the 15th century, the miners in 1480/81 had a new, larger church built – richly furnished and befitting their standing.
