Ascent: First follow the forest road upwards over a few serpentines and then enter the Lazzachertal valley. Cross the first bridge and continue uphill on the left side of the valley. After about 6 km, turn left at the fork in the road. After the fork, turn right around the mountain corner and continue to the ruins of the old “Poschhaus”. Still further into the valley to the last bridge (2200 m). Continue straight along the valley and up to the right of a gorge over a ridge into a plain (2400 m). Behind a hill turn left and above the gorge turn left into the shallow valley. Through hollows to below the Sandjoch (2550 m). Now turn left to below the summit. Straight up and right onto the ridge (2760 m). Diagonally left, very steeply upwards to the narrow ridge (2790 m). Cross this (possibly carrying your skis for a short while) to the right and descend a few metres into a notch. On the other side, a short but steep ascent to the summit plateau and to the highest point with iron bar. The summit cross is a little lower and a little further ahead. Descent as ascent.
! After heavy fresh snowfalls, the path into the Lazzachertal valley is avalanche-prone.
