    The trail starts at the last hairpin bend before the Jaufenpass mountain pass (coming from Sterzing), initially following trail no. 17A for a short stretch before continuing along the steep trail no. 17 up to the summit of Jaufenspitz. Some sections are equipped with fixed steel cables.

    Please note: this hike requires surefootedness and mountain experience. The route is recommended for experienced hikers only.

    Public transport

    The starting point can be reached by bus line 317 (Sterzing/Vipiteno – Jaufenpass/Passo Giovo – St. Leonhard/S. Leonardo). Get off at the “Ratschings, Jaufenlift”stop and continue on foot to the starting point (approx. 10 min.).

    Please note: this bus generally runs from late June to mid-October. Further information on timetables and connections is available at www.suedtirolmobil.info/en.

    Directions

    From Sterzing, continue to Gasteig, then proceed in the direction of the Jaufenpass to the final hairpin bend before the pass.

    Parking

    Parking is available at the last hairpin bend before the Jaufenpass or slightly below, near the mountain station of the Jaufenlift ski lift (operating in winter).
