The hike starts at the Bergl farmsteads in Maiern in the Ridnauntalvalley. From here, follow trail no. 29B and then trail no. 29 through the forest until reaching the Untere Gewingesalm mountain hut. Continue on trail no. 29, which ascends steadily to the Obere Gewingesalm mountain hut.

Description to arrive at destination
From Sterzing, continue through the Ridnauntal valley to Maiern and follow the road as far as Hotel Schneeberg. Continue for approximately 800 metres to the Bergl farms, where parking is available on the right-hand side of the road.
Parking
Parking is available at the starting point of the hike, on the right-hand side of the road.
Public transport
The starting point
cannot be reached directly by public transport. It is possible to travel as far as the
“Maiern” stop on
bus line 312 (Sterzing/Vipiteno – Ridnaun/Val Ridanna) and continue on foot to the starting point (approx. 20 min., 50 metres of elevation gain). Further information on timetables and connections is available at
