Starting from the Mining Museum in Maiern, at the head of the Ridnauntal valley, the itinerary initially follows trail no. 9. The ascent can either be made through the impressive Burkhardklamm gorge (trail no. 8) or by continuing along trail no. 9 outside the gorge. Beyond the gorge, both routes rejoin at the dam on the Aglsböden plateau, leading along trail no. 9 towards the Grohmannhütte and Teplitzerhütte alpine huts.
From the Teplitzerhütte hut, continue along trail no. 9, passing Vogelhüttensee lake and climbing increasingly steeply to the foot of the rocky spur known as “Becherfelsen”. From there, a partially secured rocky trail leads up to the Becherhaus alpine hut.
Please note: this high-alpine hike requires surefootedness, mountain experience and a good level of physical fitness. The route is recommended for experienced hikers only.

From Sterzing, continue towards the Ridnauntal valley as far as Maiern, at the very end of the valley. The Mining Museum, which marks the starting point of the hike, is located here.

Public transport
The starting point can be reached by bus line 312 (Sterzing/Vipiteno – Ridnaun/Val Ridanna). Get off at the final stop, “Bergbaumuseum/Museo delle Miniere”, located directly at the starting point of the hike.
