The starting point of this hike is the Parish Church of St. Ursula in the locality of Mittertal in the Jaufental valley. The route begins along trail no. 13 on a paved road and continues to just before Kaltenbrunn. Here, the trail turns right onto a gravel track. Shortly afterwards, trail no. 13 branches off to the left and continues to the junction with trail no. 14, which ascends to the Bärnfiechtalm mountain hut.
The route then briefly follows trail no. 13A before continuing on trail no. 13 to the “Bock”. From here, the descent begins. Further on, follow trail no. 12A through the Ontrattal valley until reaching the Bergalm mountain hut. You can then either proceed through the gorge of the Gurgl waterfall or follow the path that skirts the gorge.
A little further on, trail no. 13B branches off to the right and, passing the Birgl circular trail with its relaxation area, leads back to the starting point in Mittertal.

Description to arrive at destination
From Sterzing, follow the road into the Jaufental valley as far as Mittertal. The starting point is the Parish Church of St. Ursula in the centre of the village.
Parking
Parking is available opposite the Parish Church of St. Ursula, near the recycling centre in Mittertal.
Public transport
The starting point can be reached by bus line 314 (Sterzing/Vipiteno – Jaufental/Val Giovo). Get off at the “Mittertal/Val di Mezzo” stop. Further information on timetables and connections is available at www.suedtirolmobil.info/en.
