Through the Valtigltal valley to the peaks of Ratschinger Kreuz and Hochspitz

The starting point for this hike is the small car park by the barrier at the entrance to the Valtigltal valley. Follow trail no. 26 into the valley as far as the Valtiglalm mountain hut. From there, continue to the Obere Entholzalm mountain hut. The trail then ascends to the ridge, from where two summits can be reached: the path to the right leads to Ratschinger Kreuz, while the trail to the left continues towards Hochspitz.

Description to arrive at destination

From Sterzing, continue to the Gasse ski lift in the Ridnauntal valley. Turn right across the bridge and follow the road to the small car park located by the barrier gate at the entrance to the Valtigltal valley.

Parking

Parking is available at the small car park beside the barrier gate at the entrance to the Valtigltal valley.

Public transport

The starting point cannot be reached directly by public transport. It is possible to travel as far as the “Joggilerhof” stop on bus line 312 (Sterzing/Vipiteno – Ridnaun/Val Ridanna) and continue on foot to the starting point (approx. 1 hour, 140 metres of elevation gain).
