From Flading to the Hohe Ferse peak

From the head of the Ratschingstal valley at Flading, trail no. 30 skirts the Pfeifer Huisele gorge through woodland and along a flight of steps before reaching the edge of the forest. Cross the small bridge on the right and continue uphill on trail no. 30 via numerous switchbacks. Then follow trail no. 30A to the Gleckalm mountain hut. From here, steep trail no. 26 leads up to the summit of Hohe Ferse.

Please note: this hike requires surefootedness, mountain experience and a good level of physical fitness. The route is recommended for experienced hikers only.

From Sterzing, continue towards the head of the Ratschingstal valley until reaching St. Mary’s Chapel in the hamlet of Flading.

Parking

Parking is available near St. Mary’s Chapel in Flading.

Public transport

The starting point cannot be reached directly by public transport. It is possible to travel as far as the“Larch” stop on bus line 319 (Sterzing/Vipiteno – Ratschings/Racines) and continue on foot to the starting point (approx. 45 min., 130 metres of elevation gain).
