Take the Rosskopf cable car up to the mountain station at approx. 1,800 m. From here, turn left along the upper Ridnaun high-alpine trail, that runs above the Kuhalm mountain hut, and follow it to the Ochsenalm hut, where the Miner’s World begins. Along the route, numerous information panels at original sites – accompanied by striking views of the surrounding alpine landscape – offer fascinating insights into the miners’ lives and work. This trail recalls and vividly illustrates the history of mining, which has shaped Telfes and the surrounding area for centuries.
By scanning the QR codes displayed along the route, you can access videos that explore the different aspects of mining in greater depth, providing clear and engaging explanations. This themed trail invites you to embark on a journey through mining history step by step.
The return route leads down into the valley to just below the Freundalm mountain hut, before heading back uphill to the starting point along trails no. 5 and no. 5A, once again passing the Freundalm and Kuhalm mountain huts.
The opening hours of mountain and alpine huts can be foundhere.
