Starting from the Mining Museum in Maiern, at the head of the Ridnauntal valley, the route initially follows trail no. 28 to the Moarerbergalm mountainhut.
Upon request, a shuttle service is available to the Moarerbergalm mountain hut, avoiding around 700 metres of ascent and approximately two hours of walking time (information and bookings: +39 0472 756 729).
From the Moarerbergalm mountain hut the route continues along trail no. 33, passing the lower, central and upper Moarer Egetseen lakes, to the highest point of the hike: the Egetjoch pass at 2,695 metres above sea level. From here, the descent follows trail no. 33A, passing four lakes: Hinterer Egetsee, Großer Egetsee, Kleiner Vorderer Egetsee and Trüber See.
Below theGrohmannhütte alpine hut, follow trail no. 9 above the Aglsböden plateau. From here, you can either descend along trail no. 8 towards the Aglsbodenalm mountain hut or return directly to the starting point via trail no. 9.

Description to arrive at destination
From Sterzing, continue towards the Ridnauntal valley as far as Maiern, at the very end of the valley. The Mining Museum, which marks the starting point of the hike, is located here.

Parking is available at the Mining Museum in Maiern, at the end of the Ridnauntal valley, which marks the starting point of the hike.
Public transport
The starting point can be reached by bus line 312 (Sterzing/Vipiteno – Ridnaun/Val Ridanna). Get off at the final stop, “Bergbaumuseum/Museo delle Miniere”, located directly at the starting point of the hike.
