The hike starts at the “Obertelfes/Telves di Sopra” bus stop, just a few minutes’ walk from the fire station. The well-marked trail no. 5 ascends gradually through woodland to the Freundalm mountain hut. Continue on the same trail until reaching a junction, where trail no. 5A branches off to the right towards the Kuhalm mountain hut. Then continue on trail no. 23 to the Ochsenscharte gap. The ascent follows the same trail to the summit. Shortly before reaching the top, several sections are equipped with fixed steel cables.

Description to arrive at destination
From Sterzing, follow the road to Telfes. Upon reaching Obertelfes, the fire station on the left-hand side marks the starting point of the hike.

Parking is available near the fire station in Obertelfes.
Public transport
The starting point can be reached by bus line 315 (Sterzing/Vipiteno – Thuins/Tunes – Telfes/Telves). Get off at the “Obertelfes/Telves di Sopra” stop. Further information on timetables and connections is available at www.suedtirolmobil.info/en.
