Starting from the head of the Jaufental valley, the route initially follows a short section of gravel track no. 12 into the valley. It then turns left onto trail no. 16, ascending steeply through woodland to the edge of the forest. The path continues up to the avalanche barriers, from where the final ascent leads to the Mittagsspitze peak.

From Sterzing, follow the road into the Jaufental valley to the Ungererhof farm at the head of the valley in Schluppes.

Public transport
The starting point cannot be reached directly by public transport. It is possible to travel as far as the “Mittertal/Val di Mezzo” stop on bus line 314 (Sterzing/Vipiteno – Jaufental/Val Giovo) and continue on foot to the starting point (approx. 1.5 h, 350 metres of elevation gain).
