Benefit relay race „RunToRome 2026“ stops in Sterzing

Sterzing will be part of an extraordinary running adventure with heart: On Friday, August 21, 2026, the benefit relay race RunToRome 2026 (RTR) will reach the Fuggerstadt. The participants will arrive in Sterzing via the Pfitscherjoch, where they will complete their stage and spend the night.

The RunToRome 2026 will see approximately 25 runners from Baches Laufprojekt cover an impressive distance of 1,200 kilometers and 14,000 meters of elevation, traveling from Kelheim (Bavaria) to Rome. The run will start on August 19, with arrival in the Italian capital planned for August 29, 2026. The route will be tackled in relay teams, supported by an experienced logistics and support team.

The run bears a special significance: 30 years after its first edition in 1996, this exceptional project is being relaunched – this time with a clear social goal. All proceeds from donations will benefit the children's aid organization Sternstunden, which has supported children and families in need for many years.

Another meeting point for interested individuals will be the beer wagon of the Schneider Weisse brewery, which will accompany the runners. Beer will be served free of charge, while the organizers gladly accept voluntary donations in favor of Sternstunden e.V.

The organizers warmly invite the entire population to welcome the runners upon their arrival in Sterzing in the afternoon, to support them with enthusiasm and, if possible, with a donation. It will be a special opportunity to participate in an initiative that combines athletic excellence, team spirit, and genuine solidarity.
